Common Scams (Fraud) in Gulf Job Placements , Stay Alert in India

Every year, thousands of job seekers from India fall victim to fraudulent Gulf job recruitment schemes. These scams not only cause financial loss but can also lead to mental distress and legal complications. If you’re planning to work in the Gulf, being informed is your first line of defense.

Common Gulf Job Scams from Fake Agencies in India

1. Fake Job Offers Without Interview

Scammers offer “confirmed jobs” in the Gulf without any interview or background check. Victims are asked to pay large sums for visas, Medical test, tickets, or documentation.

Real Example:
In 2023, a fake consultancy in Hyderabad collected ₹50,000–₹1.5 lakh each from over 80 people, promising jobs in Dubai. The visas turned out to be tourist visas and jobseekers were stranded.

2. Tourist Visa Scam

Agencies claim to provide employment visas but actually send candidates on tourist visas, which are illegal for working.

Real Example:
Kerala-based victims were deported from Qatar after being caught working on tourist visas issued by an unlicensed agent in Mumbai.

3. Fake Company Websites and Emails

Fraudsters create lookalike websites and send job offer letters on fake letterheads of reputed Gulf companies.

Real Example:
An IT professional in Delhi received a fake offer letter from a “Qatar Petroleum HR manager” asking for ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 as processing fee.

4. Non-Existent Jobs

You are promised a high-paying job in Saudi Arabia or UAE, but when you arrive, there’s no job and the recruiter vanishes.

Real Example:
In 2022, dozens of men were abandoned in Sharjah with no jobs or money after paying ₹1.2 lakh to an agent in Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Patna.
